March 21st-25th is Outdoors Week here at Like a Bird in honor of the launch of my second blog, co-authored by my fiance. (click HERE for more info) Our new blog is all about adventures, treasures and love. All regular posts will be going up this week, but with themes similar to the new blog. Our new blog launches next Monday, March 28th.
It’s OFFICIALLY Spring! (as of Sunday!) How exciting! I know some of those I follow on twitter were complaining about snow yesterday, but it was in the upper 60′s(F) here and beautiful. I had the window in my art room and the living room open for most of the day. Eventually, it did start to rain, but then I sat in the chair in front of the window and just smelled the smell of spring and rain and sun. It was fantastic.
I’m really excited for Spring this year. Spring, of course, symbolizes a new beginning…growth and change. And the last few weeks, especially the last couple of days I’ve been working on myself growing and changing so much. I’ll be talking about this more next week I hope but for now I wanted to share some things I’m excited about for Spring and just some pretty Spring theme pictures/items!
Someday, I will own a house and have a pretty little garden (and maybe a gardener). And it will have lots of flowers, growing wild and free, and it will also have fruits and herbs. I will be able to have fresh cut flowers from my own garden on the table weekly, cook with my own herbs, eat my own strawberries.

Speaking of food…I cannot WAIT to go to the Farmers Markets and get fresh food! Scott and I have been trying to eat healthier and after living in Boston and buying from Whole Foods for a year, I LOVE organic and local grown fruits and veggies. So we’re hoping to hunt down all the farmers markets and go to town! (I can think of at least 2 very close by but I’m sure there are more.) Do you shop at farmers markets?

Speaking of Farmers Markets….one of the other great things to do in Spring is people watch! As a writer, it’s so much fun to people watch and create little stories and personalities for all the people you see on the streets. I’ll admit, this was easier and better when I lived in Boston but still possible in the small little suburbs! Check out Farmers Markets, parks, the pool…or if you live close enough to a big city, take a day trip downtown. We need to do this pronto. Also, I’ll be honest…it was hard to find pictures for this one!

And that leads me to the sun and daylight! Now I’ve always been a girl who enjoys me a nice rain or thunderstorm but I’ve been craving me some good Vitamin D lately!
It is fantastic that it’s still light out for a good hour or two after Scott gets home now! We can go to a park and walk around, or go have a picnic during the week! So exciting.

There are so many other things about Spring that are great. I don’t celebrate Easter, but I do love dying eggs and deviled eggs are the best! While it’s going to be a lot of work, I’m looking forward to Spring Cleaning! Walking in the rain, you could plant a tree or flowers, picnics again! flying a kite, seeing fireflies, going camping, having a bonfire/campfire, driving with the windows down, having the windows open in the house. I could go on and on…I’m so excited for it to be not cold out!
♥What are you looking forward to this Spring?
PS- I found all of these images via Pinterest and then followed the pins to their original sources. If you pin, please do it responsibly and do NOT pin fun an un-credited location or source.

Oh I love Spring. I’m always torn as to my favourite season. Fall is stunning, but Spring brings so many wonderful promises with it. There’s so much life. And, this year, so much snow to FINALLY melt!
I’m looking forward to the fuzzhead, this Spring. She was born on the 14th, so she actually exists now! We should be able to pick her up, if all goes well, in the second week of May. I (finally) get to have my puppy. This is going to be a great Spring.
I think it would be nifty as heck to live near you, K. It would be so much fun to dye eggs with you, or wander about in parks and watch you see things through your artist eyes. I love your sense of whimsy. It’s one of my very favourite things about you.
