May Photo-A-Day Challenge

I’ve been doing a Project 366 challenge this year and have been loving it. I’ve definitely surpassed my own expectations so far and haven’t missed as many days as I thought and I haven’t given up yet!

But with having a newborn baby to take care of, I thought for May I would create a prompt list so I don’t have to think as much.

I know there are a ton of “photo a day” lists and challenges out there nowadays, I even did one myself in February. But most, if not all, of those are geared towards using instagram or your phone and while that can be fun, I know there are others out there doing a Project 366 using a DLSR and so I wanted to create a list and a challenge just for us!
And even though instagram just came out on Android, it’s so tempting to just use that for May but I would really love to take real photos of my new baby and life during his first month of life so I’m going to limit myself to 2-3 instagram photos and take the rest on my DSLR (okay, or my point and shoot).

My awesome fiance, Scott helped me come up with this list. We tried to do some normal prompts as well as some techniques/technical based ideas so I hope you enjoy!

Each day in May, take a photo with your DSLR (or point and shoot) using the prompts above, upload it to your blog or tumblr or facebook (you don’t have to upload everyday, I never have and most definitely won’t in May!) and then use the hashtag #LABMayPhoto on twitter to share with the rest of us!

I will be participating in this challenge, but as I have a newborn to take care of I won’t be posting my pictures everyday (probably not every week either!) so I’ve created galleries with some of my favorite examples for each day on flickr and I will be posting on twitter with reminders and links.

Dear Instagram (or phone-ography) Users, I’d love for you to participate as well! I created this challenge in the hopes of encouraging, inspiring and teaching more about using a DSLR, planning and taking photos and creating images you love. I would encourage you to use a DSLR (or point and shoot) for this challenge but the more the merrier and you won’t be kicked out, promise!

Are you participating? Link up to where you will be sharing your daily images below so others can follow you! (your blog, tumblr, flickr, facebook etc)
