Dear One,
Your words make perfect sense to me. You want to become your best, most authentic self so that you can do great things for people. Wow! What is one loving action you can do for yourself right now? In doing that, dear Kendra, you will create space for more love within YOU to share your great work (love) in the world. Love you....Leigh

You and I are similar in many ways. It's difficult to get out of the depression that keeps you in your bedroom all day long. I know that from experience. But it's those days when you get dressed and go out for whatever reason/responsibility that you have that you ought to make the most of. When my son has a doctors appointment, I might as well stop by the grocery store/craft store/park/or hell--just go all the way to the beach so give myself some perspective and to feel like I accomplished something that day. It's always easier said than done. But it also gets easier to do the more that you do it.

I don't know you in person, but as a blogger, I love and adore you and your passions. You're so relate-able to so many people, myself included. Draw the strength you need to write from the simple fact: More people than you know are going through similar experiences as you are, and you're giving us all a voice and a place of comfort in our honesty.

That's not a burden--that's you helping others and giving purpose to your own struggles. That's beautiful. And many, myself included are grateful for that.

Please, keep going to therapy; continue writing. Life will fall into place, even if that place is continued difficulty for a while. If you work through the hard times, you'll find many happy moments in between, and suddenly you'll find yourself out of your current one-bedroom situation and into a must-clean-my-whole-house situation. It sounds like such a pleasant problem to have at this point (even to me, because I'm living in a very, very similar circumstance as you) but it will hold its own problems too. Life will never be problem-free. But it's more worth living as we solve each problem that comes our way, even if the solution is to simply survive for a while.

dearest, dearest kendra.

you are loved. you are whole. you are going to be ok. you may not believe it, but i'm here to tell you that it's true.

i relate to this post as if i wrote it. i have experienced perpetual dread and fear and frustration. i have been tormented by a tiny, cruel voice in the back of my head that told me i wasn't good enough for so long that i came to believe it.

i wish very much that i could take this pain away from you. you and i both know though, love, that supporting you and letting you know that i am HERE for you is all i am able to do.

i'm thrilled you are seeing someone. i'm so happy you have found someone to make sense of something that can seem so gigantic, dark, and overwhelming. that has helped me enormously. so has medication, though i do believe that every individual needs to seek what is best for themselves.

fight that stupid voice. it's wrong. you ARE good enough. you ARE normal. you ARE a good mother, a good fianceé, a good human being. you ARE talented and needed and important. do whatever you can to remind yourself of these things, no matter how much your mind struggles to tell you they are not true. they are, kendra. tell yourself these things until you believe them.

know that i am only an email away.
sending you all my love and hopes for peace.
