I created a short little video preview of my book as well that I wanted to share with you. I hope you enjoy.

About “Dear Self”:

This collection of 30 poems and illustrations is a culmination of years of work and I am proud to be sharing it now. In November of 2013, I began work in a journal, creating poems, notes and words of wisdom written to myself. For the first time in years, or probably ever, I was making art and writing just for myself. I was creating with no intention of sharing my work everyday. I wasn’t creating for the praise of anyone but myself. It felt good and I was filled with freedom.

Once I decided to create a book out of my work, I went back through my older journals and realized that I had been doing these “Dear Self” type poems and notes for years without knowing it. It’s kind of funny how that works sometimes, isn’t it?

Click here to check out more sneak peaks inside the book, find tweet-ables and more!

You can order “Dear Self” online HERE OR get a signed copy (plus one of a kind art) from me HERE

A Detailed Look At Feeling Fulfilled After Losing Your Passion: Do Things You Enjoy

One of the most popular posts on my blog over the years was one I wrote in 2012 called “5 Ways To Feel Fulfilled After Losing Your Passion”. Over the next few months, I want to expand on my original list, share each of the 5 ways to feel fulfilled in more depth and from a newer view point.

A Detailed Look At Feeling Fulfilled After Losing Your Passion: Do Things You Enjoy

Do (other) things you enjoy. OR: Get a damn hobby.

Often, when we have passions and huge career goals in life, it takes up all.of.our.time. I know for me, when I thought I was going to be a photographer, it was all I did, like ever. I went to college for it so it was always on my mind and I had almost no space for anything else.

I have many artistic loves outside of photography but when I was focused on that goal, I had no time, I had no energy or need for anything but that. So when I lost my passion and realized that wasn’t the life I wanted or the career I wanted to pursue, my time opened up and I started doing more things. I started writing more, creative fiction, and I started working more in my art journals and doing things with my hands.

Now you have all this time and you’re out there living your life but you still need something fun to occupy your time, right?

Get a hobby. Something that has nothing to do with you old passion.

Take up cooking, painting, hiking, building, calligraphy, bird watching, start gazing, ice skating…start doing a sport, join a league, write a book.

It doesn’t have to be a full hobby either. The point here is to start doing things you didn’t have time for before. Explore what’s out there and maybe something will click to renew your passion. (ps- it’s 100% okay if it doesn’t. It’ll happen, for now, just enjoy.)

Do something you haven’t done in months, or years! Blow bubbles or do cartwheels.

Just have fun and love what you are doing.

When you’ve lost your passion or are trying to find your passion, I think the absolute best thing to do is to try as many things as you can. Explore things you haven’t thought of in years. Take classes and experiment. Open your mind to new ideas, new experiences.

Live your life with joy everyday, go easy on yourself during this time by doing things just for fun and not for profit or for a job or for anything but because you want to.

You Are Beautiful

You Are Beautiful by Kendra Kantor

“You are beautiful” I wrote this reminder to myself on my mirror.

I want you to remember this too. You are beautiful.

You might have more curves, you might have less curves, you might be right in the middle and you. are. still. beautiful.

Your hands are beautiful because of what they achieve. You sculpt, you paint, you bake, you hold hands, you garden, you type, you pray.

Your mouth, your lips are beautiful for the words that grace their skin. You kiss, you eat, you smile, you frown.

You are beautiful because you are human.

You are beautiful because you love, because you are kind, because you have a story and it is unique. [tweet this!]

Your beauty shines deep, it shouts out to the stars and all the world. Your passions make you beautiful. Your goals and hopes and dreams make you beautiful.

Your legs and feet are beautiful. They carry you where you need to go. And if they don’t, you are beautiful for enduring.

You are beautiful for surviving.

You are beautiful and loved.

Beauty comes from your mind, from your thoughts, from the art you create. From the life you give to plants, children, pets. To the hope you give to others who see you and feel less alone because they feel a connection to you.

You are beautiful no matter the size of your nose.

“You are beautiful” I wrote this reminder to myself on my mirror.

I need this, from myself to myself.

You need this, from yourself to yourself.

You are beautiful if you are an apple shape, a pear, an hourglass or who the fuck knows what shape. [tweet this!]

You are beautiful because you believe you are. You are beautiful even if you are not.

I’m not a super model but I’m still beautiful, inside and out.
