Digital Art Journaling

This morning, I woke up and thought about the cleaning I have to do, the writing I should be doing and the mess I should be making by painting.
And decided I needed a break from it.
Yesterday I had a very…off day.

I want to say I really appreciate the comments I’ve gotten so far about Blogger Jealousy. Many of the things you all have said are very true and the more I thought about it, the more I got all wrapped up in my thoughts and started doubting certain things. I have decided to mostly blame the weird thoughts on PMSing lol
But anyways, I plan to reply to every comment on that post, I just need a few more days to figure things out. I think it’s probably a topic that I could do several more posts on and I just might!

So anyways, I needed a break from thinking and doing my normal art.
I used to do a lot of digital art, manipulations mostly but I also used to do some designing (CDs, websites) all for fun and nothing serious or jobs or anything. I also have done some digital painting and while I would love to get back into that, it’s still too frustrating right now.

I got a new little sketchbook and started doodling and decided to scan what I had doodled. Eventually I was sitting here using my stamps and drawings and just scanning all of it and wanted to play around and make something!
I decided to try to do a digital art journal page!
I’ve realized that it is very different from a real page, obviously! But you really have to think and approach the page differently.

Without further ado I will now shut my mouth and show the page :)

Technical info:
-I used my own photo (the butterfly)
-The Polaroid frame is a brush from the stamp I hand carved.
-The background is a scan of an old art journal page that I just had paper and paint on but never used.
-The little…border thing is also something I drew and scanned in.
-There is also a texture over the top of the page that is from a piece of scrapbook paper that I scanned in. (scanning your own digital items is really great and helpful btw!)
-The (sewing) stitches are from PhotoshopRoadmap

I think that’s all! I’m pretty pleased with it for being my first try at digital art journaling. Let me know what you think and if you have ever tried digital art journaling, send me a link so I can see and get some inspiration :)
