If you couldn’t tell by all the topics on my blog and all of the things I offer, I feel very passionate about Mental Health.
I think it’s important for us to discuss it, to be okay with it, to realize it doesn’t make you ‘crazy’ to have a mental illness. I think the healthcare for mental illnesses is lacking in the United States and so any foundation that provides resources and raises money to help those in need is a-ok in my book!
NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI advocates for access to services, treatment, supports and research and is steadfast in its commitment to raise awareness and build a community for hope for all of those in need.
On October 5th, 2013 my little family of 3 is going to be doing the 5K walk for the Cook County NAMI and we are so excited! I’ve never done a 5K or a walk for charity before and I am greatful that NAMI started these walks because it is a fantastic cause and just the thing I want to support.
